Sheepshank

This knot is used to shorten a rope or bridge a damaged part without cutting the rope. It can be tied in the middle of the rope without needing the ends.

If it is being used to bridge a damaged portion of rope, make sure the damaged part goes through both half hitches ie the damage should be in the centre of the ‘S’.

The sheepshank should be kept in tension – if loosened it may well come undone. To undo, pull the centre section of the ‘S’.

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
